2 DC Men Sentenced To Over 100 Years After Neighborhood Rivalry Sparks 9-Day Shooting Spree

Four years after 13-year-old Malachi Lukes was killed, two men, Tyiion Freeman and Koran Jackson, were sentenced to 108 and 164 years in prison, respectively, for a series of shootings in Washington, D.C. A jury found them guilty of a nine-day shooting spree that began on March 1, 2020, when they opened fire on Malachi and his friends, killing him and injuring another.

The pair then continued their attacks, targeting several others in unrelated shootings, all tied to neighborhood rivalries. A third accomplice, Stephon Nelson, was convicted of supplying the guns and will be sentenced in September 2024.
