JT Barrett Pleads Guilty To Impaired Driving Charge
Ohio State quarterback JT Barrett has pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday to a charge of impaired driving.
This comes after the 20-year-old was cited for a misdemeanor at a Columbus police checkpoint nearly two weeks ago. Police say a breath test showed Barrett’s blood-alcohol content was .099, above the .02 limit for anyone under 21.
A judge suspended Barrett’s license for 180 days, ordered him to attend a three-day intervention program and assessed a $400 fine, plus court costs.
Coach Urban Meyer has said Barrett told him he didn’t believe he was impaired when he was cited on October 31. Â His attorney told 10TV on Tuesday the 20-year-old had no intention of driving that night and was helping a friend.
In the wake of the incident, Barrett was suspended during last week’s game against Minnesota.  In his place, Cardale Jones went 12 of 22 for 187 yards with a touchdown, four sacks and a fumble. He also ran 12 times for 65 yards in the 28-14 victory.
On Monday, Meyer told reporters Barrett would resume his position as starter on Saturday against Illinois, if he has a good week of practice.
