If you’re planning to take the light rail this Sunday, be prepared for service disruptions. Several stops along the southern end of the system will be closed for track maintenance starting at 9:30 a.m.

🚉 Closed Stops (Patapsco → BWI Airport)

  • Baltimore Highlands
  • Nursery Road
  • North Linthicum
  • Linthicum
  • Ferndale
  • Cromwell/Glen Burnie
  • BWI Business District
  • BWI Airport

Service is expected to resume by 5 a.m. Monday.

🚌 Alternate Transportation

To help passengers navigate the closures, free shuttle buses will be available between affected stations.

🔧 Why the Closures?

This isn’t the first time these stations have been impacted by maintenance. Last May, many of the same stops were shut down for weeks for repairs. Then, in December 2023, the entire light rail system was suspended for two weeks due to mechanical and safety concerns.

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is working on long-term upgrades, including replacing aging railcars and modernizing the system to improve reliability. These projects aim to ensure a smoother, safer ride for commuters.
